'Modern since 1949'. String is the original component shelving system designed by the Swedish architect Nils Strinning in 1949. He was one of the leading mid-twentieth century designers who built the foundation of what we now call 'Scandinavian design'.

The structure is light weight, yet stable. It is simple to assemble and the shelves can be easily repositioned. Books are kept in place by the side panels and shelves of different depths can be combined in the same unit. When more shelf space is needed, simply add an additional side panel and some shelves. It is equally suited to a large or a small wall. This and the minimalistic timeless design is the reason why String still attracts attention after 60 years.

As well as shelves there are cabinets with sliding doors, cabinets with drawers, a desk surface, magazine rack and a new folding table.

How to order
Choose the component from the first drop down list, then choose the finish as appropriate. Add each component to you basket, click back in your browser and then add the next component. You can change quantities in your basket before checkout if necessary.

Delivery
We keep a huge stock, including all the popular elements, and where possible we will dispatch within a week. 
If an item is not available from stock the lead time is usually 4-6 weeks.

*Cabinets are flat packed, and require simple assembly.
*Floor standing panels allow a maximum skirting board height of 125mm. Over this size use wall panels instead.
*Folding table can only be used with Floor panels L200cm or L85cm - not with Wall panels. W78cm x D96cm when unfolded. Various tops are available with white or black metal legs.
